OCCHIO.CC LAUNCHES BORNBOUND AS A NEW TRIATHLON BRAND IN THE UK

Born in California, the brand has drawn upon decades of experience with elite athlete product development at the world’s top tier sports brands, and the products are the culmination of a hunger to pair the very best technical materials and up-to-the-minute sustainable construction methods with the development of visually iconic, distinctive endurance sportswear which can go the distance.

The name BornBound itself relates to a notion of destiny, something within us that, with work, can be achieved - illustrating the brand’s deep devotion to endurance sports as a way of life.

In line with BornBound’s commitment to sustainability, in collaboration with One Percent for the Planet, 1% of all UK generated revenue will be donated to Plastic Free North Devon, the new owner of the Croyde Ocean Triathlon, of which BornBound is a new official partner.

100% of profits from the race go to the environmental charity. The UK office for BornBound is based in North Devon and within the area of which the charity operates. The region lies within a UNESCO Biosphere and is blessed with a stunning, mainly undeveloped coastline which the charity works hard to protect. BornBound will be partnering with similar charities in each region it has a presence in (currently USA and UK).

With sustainable performance at the fore, each item of triathlon and running wear under the BornBound banner has been tailored to encourage unencumbered movement, utilising the best technical materials available, whilst also adhering to high levels of environmental consciousness.

Run - Rekord

In the Rekord running collection, our tees and singlets feature flat abrasion-free edged neck and arm openings, pleated raglan sleeves and heat welded seams at the neck, cuff and hem.

Rekord running shorts benefit from a semi split leg cut and a high stretch liner with anatomically positioned seams, for maximum comfort down below and a high-quality elasticated waist with draw strings above to keep everything in place whether you're pushing hard on the road, track or trail. Because reaching for a zip when your heartrate is maxed out is less than ideal, we’ve built in a low profile fold-over rear pocket which stays tight when loaded, protecting the contents and keeping them locked down when running.

Finally, fast-dry and anti-perspiration treatments are employed throughout, to shed any unnecessary moisture and allow you to focus on the effort.

Triathlon - Skärvatten

The triathlon-specific range serves all competitors with high level options, with the Skärvatten collection (translates as 'cutting water') offering a versatile tri short and sleeveless tri top outfit, and a maximum performance short sleeve tri suit. All are equipped with the best temperature regulating, hydrophobic, fast dry, UPF and Coldblack® treatments and fabrics available from the likes of Payen, Eschler and MITI, including MITI’s Tavolara 180 TRIACTION and Tri-Force fabrics. Quick-drying triathlon pads from industry leading manufacturer Elastic Interface are seamlessly sewn into the gussets of the shorts and suit.

Finishing touches include YKK semi lock zips complete with garages for assured performance and comfort, 3M reflective detailing and silicone elements in use at the waist, cuffs and even on the outside saddle contact surface to ensure everything simply stays where it’s supposed to. Aero rear pockets provide a simple storage solution for essentials, without increasing bulk or drag.

Lightweight Bluesign™ and OEKO-TEX® textiles are present throughout both collections, meeting high levels of sustainable manufacturer responsibility.

In partnership with Kryptek, creators of leading technical military apparel, disruptive patterns have been utilised to form a unique style, complementing and conveying the superior technological nature of BornBound apparel. All BornBound apparel is available with our standout Kryptek Universal K pattern or in a more classic un-patterned Cosmos Blue colour.
