Mati's Career

Matilde is 16 years old, was born in Dorset, UK but moved to Norway at the age of 2 as her mother is Norwegian. Sport is something Matilde has always had a keen interest in, with cross county skiing being one of her first passions. When Mati moved back to the UK at aged 6 she found herself to be in the minority of children being unable to swim. The first summer holidays were spent doing a crashcourse in swimming, which ignited a love for the water which remains to this day.

With her Mum and Dad both enthusiastic amateur triathletes, Mati took part in some ‘Try a Tri’ events, finishing in strong positions and has never looked back. She now trains with and represents Bournemouth Athletics Club in the UK, running in track and cross country events as well as regular ParkRuns and organised mass participation events (Future Outlaw, Bournemouth Run Festival).

2023 was Mati’s first year of taking triathlon more seriously as her enjoyment for the sport grew. She presented herself to us at the stunning Croyde Ocean Triathlon in the UK while aged 15 and we were taken by her passion for the sport. Each race has brought new experiences and learnings, and she has gradually improved.

BornBound has enjoyed supporting her journey as a young triathlete and she managed to finish ranked number one in her age group at the end of the 2023 British Junior South West series. This was combined with also finishing first in the Open Water category for the series.

3rd U20 AG Bournemouth International Triathlon in September 2023 (GB age group qualification for 2024 World Championships in Torremolinos).

3rd Female at the 2024 Croyde Ocean triathlon.

Ranked 1st in South West Junior Series (UK) in 2023 and 2024
