Trevor Perkins 🇬🇧 AG Triathlete and Coach
Â
Trevor's Career
Trevor took up Triathlon way back in 1989 and was one of the first wave of athletes taking up the sport. He was also born and raised in South Africa but moved to the UK in 2002 and now races for his 60-64 age group for GB. He enjoys long course events and his best finish in a championship event was in 1991 finishing 9th in the 25 to 29 AG Cat. He also runs ultra-distance races, and all with an infectious passion for it. He even went back to university at age 49 to graduate as a sports coach and has in recent years run a coaching company for triathletes teaching bike and transition skills and all aspects of Triathlon.
With a hiatus in the sport in his earlier years due to also having a passion for MX and enduro motorbike racing, he rode to a high level only to break his back during a high speed ‘dismount’ Oops! It took him a long time to recover and after a long recovery decided to hang up the MX kit.
After rehabilitating from his injuries using swimming and bike riding, he got back into triathlon again and has gradually improved each year to the extent that in 2023 he qualified and raced for GB as an age grouper in Standard distance European and the World Championships in 2024.
In 2024 he has again qualified for the GB Age Group Europeans and Worlds 2025 at standard distance. He aims to move up to middle distance and target World Champs qualification 2026.
